Cire Trudon ….a little bit of history

Athénaïs de Montespan blows out the candle.
In the silence and darkness, the smoke of the sheep tallow smells foul.
"Candles made of beautiful, pure wax are so expensive!"

"At Versailles they only burn wax" murmured the Marchioness

Excerpts from "Le Montespan" by Jean Teulé.

Cire Trudon, candle makers since 1643
and suppliers to the Royal Court, the Cathedrals of Europe,
and Napoleon Bonaparte to name just a few….

Anne Derasse… Interior Architecture

This is the first monograph on the work of Belgian Interior architect Anne Derasse, covering projects from 2005 to the present day.

Anne has an incredible ability to achieve

the delicate balance between aesthetics and functionality.
Her projects are developed in a refined, contemporary style,
composed of clean lines and natural materials;
attention to details, textiles and colors are key.

In this book, Jorg Brauer's stunning photography captures Durasse's designs beautifully.

Secrets of a Stylish Home… Cate Burren

Many of us dream of hiring an interior designer to create the perfect home,
but it's an expense that sometimes we can't manage.
The affordable alternative is to undertake the work yourself,
and Secrets of a Stylish Home is just the book to show you how.

Cate Burren is an interior designer based in Cambridge, England
and  is a regular contributor to interiors magazines.
This book is both a practical guide and a visual reference of attractive design ideas.
With chapters on the importance of finding your style, planning your layout,
using colour, creating your scheme and managing your project,
Secrets of a Stylish Home takes you through each stage, distilling the knowledge that Burren has gathered over the years into clear, easy-to-follow steps.

Her insightful advice is accompanied by real-life case studies,
drawings, plans and beautiful images by interiors photographer Simon Whitmore.
Whatever your experience of interior design, this book will give you the know-how and confidence to develop your own style and transform your living space.

Cire Trudon Prolétaire Candle

Cire Trudon has made the Prolétaire candle, the "mascot" of Labour day.
A revolutionary candle which exhales the workers’ struggles,
brings hope and with the scent of lily of the valley, the promise of spring.

Workers persevered for many years in asking for the right to
decent and humane working hours.
Their struggle persisted during many bloody and violent protests but
the workers' voices refused to be silenced until their request was heard.

It was only in 1919, that the French Senate officially ratified an 8 hour day
and to celebrate the workers past and present struggles
Labour Day is declared officially a holiday and dedicated to the work force.
